The Heart of Sacred River

Sacred River was created from a deep belief that healing energy flows through everything — through people, animals, nature, and the quiet moments where we reconnect with ourselves.

My journey into energy healing began not just with people, but with an animal who changed my life.

Her name is River.

River is my beautiful German Shepherd rescue, and she came into my life at a time when I was becoming more aware of how sensitive animals are to energy, emotion, and their environment. Like many rescue animals, River carried her own experiences and sensitivities, and supporting her wellbeing opened my eyes to the powerful connection between compassion, energy, and healing.

River also came to us with her own physical and emotional challenges. She arrived with an irregular back paw which we later discovered was caused by a broken toe that had healed wonky after being ignored earlier in her life. She had already been bred from when she was little over a year herself and then dumped at the pound, her litter having been taken away from her weeks too soon. Thanks to, Aura Dogs, what was supposed to be a two week foster, turned into River finding her forever home. 

Now, in 2026, River has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and is also recovering from a cruciate in the same back leg as her wonky paw. With the support of an incredible vet, along with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and Reiki, we are doing everything we can to give her the happiest and most comfortable 'normal' life possible. 

River is surrounded by love and support from many people who care deeply about her wellbeing. Her “Dog-Mother” (the canine equivalent to God-Mother) and her dog, Pilot, River’s best friend, also lives with hip dysplasia and seeing him live his best life is the perfect inspiration and motivation to get River to the same place! We are fortunate and blessed to be around wonderful people who all have her back.

Through supporting River, I began to explore Animal Reiki and energy healing more deeply. I came to understand how gentle, intentional energy can create calm, balance, and trust — not only for animals, but for people as well.

From this journey, Sacred River was born.

The name reflects both the natural flow of healing energy and the inspiration River brought into my life. Just as a river flows steadily and naturally, healing energy moves where it is needed, supporting balance and restoration.

River continues to remind me every day why this work matters. Her journey from rescue to beloved family member reflects the same healing, patience, and transformation that energy work can support in all of us.
